Equus is an alter ego for my private parties dedicated to techno music and the scene we love. These parties are always non-profit and by private invitation only. There are no sponsors and no commercial motives. The parties are entirely funded from my (Joakim’s) own pocket and driven by the autonomy and freedom to use one’s own resources to express this passion and create parties that simply do not exist in Gothenburg’s commercial scene.
The motivation is rooted in the freedom to dance to good music, inviting my friends to my parties and sharing these moments together. Ultimately, it is your presence and to some extent your voluntary donations that keep these nights alive.
We host 3-4 parties each year, celebrating everything from my birthday to the summer or winter solstice. These nights are not open to the public; they are special moments shared just among friends and their +1 like-minded souls. Each party is carefully planned to let music and togetherness take center stage. Sometimes the music is soft and melodic; sometimes it fills the room with powerful energy.

Equus’s curatorial focus on booking female artists is not political—it is intentional and rooted in pure experience. When we look back at the absolute best sets we have ever witnessed, those rare moments when the dancefloor was in total symbiosis, driven by a soft and beautiful energy, they all shared one common denominator: the DJs were women.
That exact vibe shaped what we value for our parties: a softer and warmer energy on the dancefloor. “Feminine energy” here is not tied to gender or quotas; it is a quality we nurture through the music, how we host the nights and how we build the space. We amplify this energy with multisensory design: scents, textiles, warm light and décor combine to create a safe and welcoming space. The goal is connection, ease and smiles.
Equus is a strictly private party by invitation only. We keep these nights closed to the public to ensure a safe and intimate space for our friends. Equus is an invite-only party held in a private space. Because we are not open to the public, Swedish law dictates that we do not require a dance permit or any other public permits. We ask you to acknowledge these facts. To protect our space, always tell the truth if questioned: you are attending a private party hosted by Joakim.

Equus is entirely non-profit. To help cover the shared costs for the location, sound, lighting and artists, we ask for a voluntary donation either in advance or at the door.
In accordance with Swedish regulations for private events, all items provided, including any beverages or food, will be offered strictly at cost price with no profit made.
